Tapia's heroics rescues Larned girls

LARNED GIRLS 34, SKYLINE 33

PRATT – Larned's Julie Tapia sealed a 34-33 basketball victory Saturday over Pratt-Skyline with two free throws with five seconds left in regulation. A last-second 3-pointer by Sophie Bricker made the final 34-33. Tapia also scored a fourth-quarter basket for a 31-27 lead. The Indians led by 12 points in the third period when the Thunderbirds made a inspired rally.

Larned (2-4) was paced by Tapia with eight points and Jaidyn Pinkston with seven points and superb ballhandling. The Thunderbirds outscored Larned 20-10 in the fourth period.
