Indian girls beat Skyline

PRATT -- The Larned girls roared to an 18-5 lead and raced past Pratt-Skyline 56-36 to earn their second win of the season.

Larned (2-6) was paced by Karley Lemuz with 16 points and Akieleh Collins added 13. Lemuz and Collins dominated the rebounding to provide

second and third shot opportunities. Larned plays Lyons Tuesday at home.

Behind a strong defensive effort, the Lady Indians held Skyline to single-digit scoring in the first three quarters of the game to settle the outcome. “We did a really good job of getting the ball inside though Skyline was double and triple-teaming our post players,” said Larned coach Jerrod Smith. “We kept our composure and converted baskets or got to the free throw line.”

Larned posted 30 field goal attempts in the first half compared to Skyline’s 11. Larned surged to a 40-19 advantage at the end of three quarters.

“We did a good job of getting good shots,” Smith said. “We ran our offense better and didn’t settle for the 3-point shot.”

Larned made 20 of 53 shots for 38%. Larned converted 11 of 18 free throws.

Skyline (2-6) made 11 of 27 field goals and converted 11 of 20 free throws. Skyline’s Kory Anschutz scored 13 points and Kady Anschutz added 10 and Ashley Spease nine.
