PRATT — Larned’s Legion baseball team (2-2) surprised Pratt’s Legion team 4-3 and 10-2 in Wednesday’s baseball doubleheader.
LARNED 4, PRATT 3 (G1)— Reliever Carlos Ibarra required one pitch to retire Noah Riley and preserve a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Pratt.
Larned starter Owen Reece (1-0) threw the maximum 106 pitches before he departed with 10 strikeouts and one earned run.
Pratt led 1-0 when Rove scored on a Justus Tatro fourth-inning groundout.
Logan Erway’s clutch 3-run triple swung the game Larned’s way after Carson Shaver and Camden Bird and Brady Hope singled. Erway scored on Carlos Ibarra’s perfectly timed squeeze bunt.
Pratt’s Chaz Teafatiller singled home Dawson Evert and Taye Wilson in the seventh inning after a walk and a 2-out error.
LARNED 10, PRATT 2 (G2)— Ibarra keyed a 9-run fourth inning with a pair of RBI singles to spark Larned. Ty Smith, Angel Bowersox and Eian Sanders delivered RBI hits. Smith, Tristan Regan and Sanders scored on errors and Ian Orth scored on a passed ball for a 9-0 lead. Hope scored on a Pratt error for Larned’s 10th run.
Larned shortstop Hope turned Riley’s line drive into a fifth-inning double play.
Pratt’s Rove scored on a wild pitch and Rove singled home Rupe.
