Larned Legion sweeps Pratt

PRATT – Larned’s Legion baseball team accomplished a feat by sweeping the Pratt 86ers 5-2 and 6-2. Central Kansas League champion Pratt swept Larned during the high school baseball season.

LARNED 5, PRATT 2 (G1) – Larned scored three unearned runs to ease to a first-game victory. Reliever Dillan Smith worked four innings with six strikeouts to earn the victory.

Pratt’s Barrett Bolen scored on Fernando Fernandez’s first-inning groundout for a 1-0 lead. Larned’s Logan Erway singled home Ian Orth for a 1-1 tie after two innings.

Pratt gift wrapped Larned’s game-winning fourth-inning relay with three walks and two errors. Dillan Smith, Gavin Alvarez and Sanders all scored on Pratt errors for a 4-1 lead.

Jacob Grosfield doubled home Mello Bryant in the seventh inning. Bolen scored on Koda Dipman’s seventh-inning groundout for a 5-2 final.

LARNED 6, PRATT 2 (G2) – Larned reliever Owen Reece worked three shutout innings after starter Kaden Pontius pitched four innings.

Pratt led 2-0 when Fernando Fernandez scored on an error and Grant Younie scored on a wild pitch.

Larned scored three second-inning runs and three third-inning runs. Eian Sanders and Carlos Ibarra scored on wild pitches. Erway singled home Ian Orth.

Dillan Smith scored on a steal after his single scored Jacob Grosfield and Kaden Pontius for a 6-2 lead.
