Redskins sweep Eagle softball

LITTLE RIVER – Ellinwood’s softball team led Little River briefly 3-2, but the Redskins (4-0) rallied for an 8-6 opening victory before completing a sweep with a 15-5 victory.

Ellinwood (1-5) plays at Ellsworth April 8.

LITTLE RIVER 8, EAGLES 6 (G1) – Little River’s Kate Hendrickson singled home Madison Crotinger and Maura Ayers to key a 6-run sixth inning. Redskins Peyton Harrington, Brayli Teeters, Ella Stansbury and Kinsley Wohletz delivered RBIs in the sixth inning.

Emma Nienke singled home Bennett Jacobs in the third inning. Morgan Shinliver scored on Shyria Quintana’s fourth inning single. Kyndal Moore scored on a fifth-inning error.

Jacobs and Nienke scored on Kennedy Behnke’s 2-run seventh-inning single. Keighyn Dombroski singled home Behnke for an 8-6 score, but Morgan Shinliver was throw out at third base to end the ballgame.

LITTLE RIVER 15, EAGLES 5 (G2) – Little River’s Teeters scored three runs and drove home four runs with three hits. Stanbsury scored four runs and drove in three runs with three hits. Wohletz and Bethany Sears each drove home two runs.

Shinliver scored on a second-inning wild pitch. Jacobs scored on a bases-loaded walk to start a 4-run third inning. Nienke scored on Dombroski’s single. Behnke and Shinliver scored on Reese Stickney’s single for an 8-5 score.
