Braves blow away Pratt in doubleheader

The Great Bend Braves Class A American Legion baseball team swept its doubleheader against Pratt on Wednesday at Al Burns Memorial Field, winning the first game 16-8 and the nightcap 17-8.
Great Bend combined for 33 runs in the two games.
The Braves found themselves down 4-0 after the top of the first inning in the first game against Pratt.
However the Braves nullified the 86ers’ promising start with a nine-run inning in the bottom of the first.
Batting second in the order, Bryce Beck got the Braves started with a single, followed by a Dakota Conaway walk.
Braden Jones drove both in with a double.
Daniel Herrman drew a walk and Derek Simmons drove in a run with a single.
Brady Buehler followed with a walk. During his at bat, Herrman stole home.
Dillon Reiser hit a double for two RBIs.
The final two runs of the inning were scored three walks and a strikeout later on an error.
After claiming a 9-4 lead, the 86ers almost got themselves back into the game, closing the game to 9-8 by the third inning.
The Braves responded by scoring another two runs in the bottom of the third.
Jones had an RBI double and Herrman followed with an RBI triple.
The Braves scored their final runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring five runs to get a 16-8 lead.
Reiser began the fourth with a ground-rule double and later scored on an error.
Conaway had an RBI double and later crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
Simmons finished the scoring with a single, scoring two runs.
Lang started the game on the mound and recorded the win for the Braves, going three innings. He gave up all eight runs on seven hits and three walks. He had one strikeout.
Reiser finished the five-inning game. He gave up one hit in two innings of work.

Great Bend 17, Pratt 8
The Braves were able to ring up eight runs in the first inning in the nightcap on Wednesday and finish with 17 runs.
Conaway hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to get the scoring started and scored a run on a wild pitch later in the inning.
A Pratt error scored Jonathon Allende, who got on base with a single.
Lang drove in two runs with a single and Simmons got an RBI with a single as well.
Jones started on the mound for the Braves and kept Pratt off of the scoreboard until the top of the fourth inning.
Up 12-0, the 86ers began to crawl back, but the Braves continued to pummel the ball, scoring five more runs in the final innings to keep the game out of reach.
