HOISINGTON 47, SW HEIGHTS 0

HOISINGTON — Hoisington quarterback Mason Haxton threw four touchdown passes and all-state tailback Wyatt Pedigo scored three touchdowns as the Cardinals roared past Southwestern Heights 47-0 in the 2A football playoffs.

The Cardinals (9-0) play Lakin (8-1) in Friday’s second round at home.

Avery Brewer caught 5- and 8-yard touchdown receptions. Pedigo caught a 17-yard touchdown reception and Cade Mason caught a 60-yard touchdown pass. Pedigo rushed for 211 yards on five carries and scored on runs of 60 and 86 yards.

Hunter Morris scored on a 17-yard run. The Cardinals gained 347 yards passing and passed for 95 yards.

“Mason Haxton threw the football really good tonight,” said Hoisington coach Zac Baird. “They gave us cover zero. There were things we could take advantage of. It was important for us to play well and get off to a good start.”

Hoisington’s Nolan Wilborn accounted for eight tackles and Jacob Specht collected seven tackles.

“Our defensive line did a good job getting off blocks,” Baird said. “Our defense played really well.”
