RUSSELL – Central Plains Oiler Peyton Ryan scored 24 points and Brodie Crites added 16 points as the Oilers cruised past Plainville 57-26 for fifth place at the Russell Amos Morris Tournament.

The Oilers were up 18-6 after the first quarter and 31-10 at halftime.\

The Oilers play Hays Thomas More Prep Friday.

C. PLAINS GIRLS 35, RUSSELL 28 (5TH)

RUSSELL -- The Central Plains Lady Oilers held off a fourth-quarter run from Russell for a 35-28 victory for fifth place in the Russell Amos Morris Classic.

Marilyn Soeken led the Oilers with 12 points and Grace Lamatsch added seven points. The Oilers (2-2) face Hays Thomas More Prep Friday.

Russell sliced an 11-point lead to 31-28 off Oiler turnovers. Anna Thielen’s 3-pointer to tie missed. Soeken and Addyson Ogle each converted two free throws to ice the victory.

Aubrey Birney scored nine points and Anna Thielen added eight points.
