CENTRAL PLAINS 98, MACKSVILLE 8
MACKSVILLE – The Macksville Mustangs discovered the one feat the Central Plains Oiler girls do not want to accomplish – score 100 points.
The No. 1 ranked 1A Oilers rolled over Macksville 98-8 Monday for their Kansas state record 121st consecutive basketball victory. The Oilers elected to run the final 21/2 minutes off the clock rather than try to score 100 points.
The Oiler girls own the sixth longest winning streak in U.S. basketball history.
All-state guard Emily Ryan scored 26 points with 12 assists and nine steals. Five Oilers scored in double figures sparked by Kassidy Nixon (22), Lexi Oeser (13), Delaney Rugan (11) and Addison Crites (11).
The Oilers (10-0, 3-0 CPL) used dominating pressure defense to lead 35-2 after one quarter and 62-3 at halftime. The Oilers made 40 of 50 2-pointers for 80 percent. The Oilers had 32 steals and 29 assists.
