Otis-Bison, Pawnee Heights, Stafford continue playoffs

CENTRAL CHRISTIAN (7-2) at OTIS-BISON (7-11)

No one will be surprised if Central Christian and Otis-Bison feature a highscoring affair. The Cougars average 63 points per game while the Cougars average 49 points despite just two games that competed four quarters. The Cougars’ defense has yielded 11 ppg and the Cougars yield 28 ppg.

Cougars’ QB Caleb Lambert directs a wide-open passing game with 1,792 yards passing and 29 TDs. Lambert has rushed for 17 scores. The Cougars feature a bevy of receivers — Richie Walton has 10 TDs and Adam Hall seven TDs.

Otis-Bison QB Anton Foust has rushed for 822 yards and 13 TDs while throwing for 596 yards and 21 TDs. FB Bevan Gradig has gained 392 yards. TE Maitland Wiltse has eights TDS and 251 yards receiving. Seth Hoopingarner has five TDs and 194 yards receiving. The Cougars beat Pretty Prairie 60-12.

“We were pumped up, ready to go,” said Otis-Bison coach Travis Starr. “You want your team to come out hard and fast. We ran and threw the ball effectively. It got out of hand early,which is what you want.”

Foust has sparked an improved passing game.

“Anton has thrown the ball really well,” Starr said. “You want to be multidimensional.”

PAWNEE HEIGHTS (8-1) at WESKAN (5-2), 3 p.m.

Tiger tailback Kade Scott helped the Tigers break 6-man state records with an 118-85 playoff victory over Cheylin in a rematch of last year’s state championship game. The teams combined for 31 touchdowns, 1,351 yards and 856 yards rushing.

Scott has gained 2,342 yards and 53 touchdowns after his 501yard, 14-touchdown game last week.

Weskan is a familiar foe. The Tigers’ toughest game was 53-47 over Weskan in the 6-man semifinals last year. Weskan defeated the Tigers 36-18 in the 2016 6-man state championship game.

STAFFORD (7-2) at SOUTH BARBER (8-0-1) The Chieftains are a huge favorite behind QB Trevor Rooks who has thrown for 1,072 yards and 21 TDs and rushed for 750 yards and 15 scores. RB Neal Gugelmeuer has rushed for 603 yards and 15 scores and caught four TDs and 263 yards. WR Emilio Perez has 395 yards and eight TDs receiving.

Stafford QB Justice Manning has thrown for 565 yards and 11 TDs and gained 630 yards and 17 scores. RB Caleb Hildebrand has gained 889 yards and 22 TDs and RBi Tai Hildbrand has 521 yards and 11 TDs. Ethan Hildebrand has 242 yards and four scores receiving.
