NESS CITY 46, MACKSVILLE 0

NESS CITY — Ness City tailback Hector Rodriguez and quarterback Jose Guzman each scored two touchdown to lead the Eagles past Macksville 46-0 in Friday’s Central Prairie League football game.

Rodriguez scored on 13- an 53-yard dashes. Guzman scored on 23- and 27-yard runs and completed a pair of touchdowns to Easton Seib.

Macksville (1-1) was paced by Michael Seward with 70 yards rushing and 53 yards receiving. Macksville quarterback Ryan Kuckelman threw for 74 yards. Harley Blaske had 10 tackles and Zane Johnson had eight stops.

Two turnovers cost the Mustangs a chance to play much closer.

“Tonight’s game was a rough one,” said Macksville coach Chet Skinner. “The scoreboard shows a different game from how we played. We drove the ball up and down the field but mental mistakes cost us in the red zone. We had an interception in the endzone, a fumble on the next drive, and countless other situations caused the lopsided score.”

Skinner said Ness City is a good football team.

“We need to play better and be more consistent moving forward,” Skinner said. “We face a tough Victoria team that is always well-coached and physical. At practice this week we get back to the basics — blocking and tackling.”
