Panther girls down Garden City bowlers 9-4

GARDEN CITY — Great Bend's defending 5A state champion Kaylin Wahlmeier earned medalist honors (671, 255-245-171) to lead a 9-4 Western Athletic Conference dual victory over defending WAC champion Garden City Tuesday. The Panthers also defeated Garden City earlier in the season.

The Panthers won series games 776-742 and 800-697 and split four Baker games. Great Bend scored 3,010 pins to Garden City's 2,895 to earn an additional three points. Aliyah Fryberger placed fourth with 537 (171-200-166) and Sahara Rhiza finished fifth at 534 (181-139-214).

The Panthers lead the Western Athletic Conference standings 68-47 over Garden City. 

PANTHER BOYS — Reigning Western Athletic Conference champion Garden City powered past Great Bend 12-1 to sweep the home-and-home series. Garden City's Kaden Strasser earned medalist honors 693 (205-221-267) followed by teammate K.J. Burns, 691 (226-247-218).

Great Bend's Caleb McNett placed third with 640 (243-182-215) and Kamron Stude placed sixth with 534 (157-185-192)

Garden City leads the WAC standings 74-60 over Dodge City with Great Bend in third with 43 points.

PANTHER GIRLS —  Great Bend's girls swept the Baker format 6-0 to rally past Dodge City 10-3 after trailing 2,195 to 2,168 after three series games.

The Dodge City girls outshot Great Bend 2,195 to 2,168, but the Lady Panthers dominated the Bakers side of the competition to win the match 10-3. 

Dodge City beat Great Bend 9-4 after outscoring the Panthers 2,321 pins to 2,249 in three series games.

Dodge City's Taylor Lenz earned medalist honors (593, 202/200/181). Panther Sahara Rziha was runner-up (534, 132/187/215). Emilee Nelson shot a 202 game for a 534 series. Kaylin Wahlmeier (532) placed sixth, followed by seventh-place Aliyah Fryberger (512), eighth-place Zoey Mayberry (506) and 11th-place Paige Heine (376).

Dodge City's Ethan Pogue earned medalist honors (645, 213/263). Panther Caleb McNett placed runner-up (608, 198/185/225). Fifth-place Dylan Ferguson rolled a 211 game for a 539 series that edged teammate Jalen Daniels' 539 with a 207 game.  Seventh-place Jordan Manning (522) shot a 199 game followed by eighth-place Kamron Stude (507) and 10th-place Kolby Burnham (465).
