Panther girls win third track title at Buhler

The Great Bend Panther girls celebrate their third consecutive track title at Buhler Friday.

BUHLER — Great Bend's Makenzie Premer (300 hurdles) and Taryn Warren (shot put) placed first and the Panthers shattered season-best times in the 1,600-meter relay and 3,200-meter relay while winning Friday's Buhler Track Invitational. The Panthers (126.33) edged Maize South (119) for the team title.

Premer improved her 300 hurdles (47.74) followed by runner-up Sadie Spray (48.25). Warren won the shot put (37-91/2).

The first-place 3,200-meter relay (10:07.49) improved by 37 seconds with Eliana Beckham, Emilia Diaz, Hannah Loomis and Emma Loomis competing. The runner-up 1,600-meter relay improved by 20 seconds (4:08.74) with Beckham, Premer, Spray and Valarie Luna running.

The Panthers' other runner-up finishers were Luna, high jump (5-0) and Lexi Deines, pole vault (9-6).

"That's three first places in a row for the girls," said Great Bend coach Lyles Lashley. "We set a bunch of PRs on both sides today."

BOYS DIVISION — Panther Kaiden Esfeld won the 3,200-meter with a season-best time (9:44.34). The Panthers' third-place 1,600-meter relay improved 10 seconds (3:33.93) with Oliver Dominguez, Braylon Council, Madison Regehr and Jaime Arellanes competing. 

Athletes competed in 55-degree temperatures.
