Panther golfer Heilman places fourth

Great Bend golfer Scott Heilman commits to Barton Community College’s golf program, Carl Heilman. Scott’s father; Scott Heilman, Steve Wolf, Great Bend golf coach. Heilman placed 52nd at last year's 5A state tournament (172, 86/86) at Newton's Sand Creek Station.

LIBERAL – Great Bend Panther Scott Heilman posted a season-low score of 1-over-par 73 to earn fourth-place medalist honors. Heilman birdied Nos. 6, 8, 15 and 18. Also counting for the Panthers were 18th-place Esten Moore (92) with a birdie at No. 18; 19th-place Joe Lenenberger (93) and 24th-place Jonathan Randall (105).

Garden City’s Theo Juhl shot 5-under-par 67 with birdies at Nos. 4, 6, 12, 14, 15 and 18. Garden City (288) won the team title by 19 strokes over Dodge City (307). The temperature hit 93 degrees with winds from 5 to 15 mph.
