Panthers’ Long earns WAC swimmer award

GARDEN CITY – Great Bend’s Ellis Long earned Western Athletic Swimmer of the Year for the runner-up Panthers (352.5), who finished behind champion Garden City (401.5) Thursday. Garden City’s Dan Delgado earned Coach of the Year honors.

Long captured first place in the 100 freestyle (2:04.71) and 100 breaststroke (1:01.4) and ran on winning 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley relays.

Great Bend's Kasey Kennedy swept the 100 butterfly (59.58) and 200 IM (2:20.61). Great Bend's Beau Burkhart won the 50 freestyle (24.54) and 100 freestyle (55.47).

Long, Kennedy, Burkhart and Adam Hall won the 200 free relay (1:39.03). Long, Kennedy, Burkhart and Ty Boone won the 200 medley relay (1:51.68).
