TOPEKA – Great Bend Panther Tyler Stein placed eighth (59.01) in the 5A state swimming championship Saturday. Stein qualified for the top eight state final with a season-best time of 57.3.
Matthew Huslig placed 10th in the 200 freestyle (1:52.5). Huslig placed 17th in the 500 freestyle (5:16.85).
The Panthers' three relays all placed in the top 16. The 200 free relay placed 16th (1:37.41) with Daniel Abbott, Jacob Kennedy, Brody Feist and Huslig. The 200 medley relay placed 14th (1:48.99) with Stein, Ellis Long, Allen To and Abbott. The 400 free relay finished 15th (3:41.71) with Abbott, Stein, Feist and Huslig.
