SALINA — Great Bend’s No. 1 doubles team Alexis Folkerts-Abbie Moyers lost a hard-fought three-set match to miss qualifying for the 5A state tennis tournament at the Salina regional.  

McPherson’s fifth-place finisher Rachel Carlson-Patty Huerta edged past Folkerts-Moyers 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. Folkerts-Moyers lost 6-1, 6-0 to McPherson’s regional champions Taylor Bruce-CeAnna Allen. Folkerts-Moyers (24-9) beat Maize’s Abby Canupp-Kara Davenport, 6-1, 6-1 in the first round.

Great Bend’s Anna Popp (21-10), Remi Ingram (19-16) and Madison Huslig-Mya Ward (15-16) lost first-round matches.
