GARDEN CITY – Great Bend's girls won five events at Tuesday’s Garden City Swimming Invitational.

Panther winners were Emilee Hall, 50 freestyle (28.35); Ellyson Somers, 100 butterfly (1:10.82); Josephine Mazouch, 200 freestyle (2:24.6); Katelyn Mermis, 500 freestyle (6:48.64) and the 200 medley relay (2:11.07) with Hall, Ava Gregg, Somers and Kamryn Johns.

Mazouch finished runner-up in the 500-freestyle (6:49.66) and Great Bend placed second in the 200 medley relay (2:26.96) with Reggie Huslig, Braylee Carper, Alyvia Mingenback, Sydney Kruckenberg; the 200 freestyle relay (1:53.94) with Hall, Somers, Johns, Mazouch; and the 400 freestyle relay (4:39.25) featuring Mazouch, Kruckenberg, Clarice Snapp, Mermis. 

Garden City’s girls rallied past Great Bend 400-379. The Buffaloes outscored the Panthers by 28 points in the 400-yard freestyle and gained 56 points in the meet’s final four events.

The Buffaloes gained eight points in the 200 freestyle relay, 11 points in the 100-yard backstroke and nine points in the 100-yard breaststroke. Garden City (1:53.16) edged the Panthers (1:53.94) in the decisive 200-yard freestyle relay. The Buffaloes swept the top three spots in the 100-yard backstroke.
