HUTCHINSON — Great Bend captured two relays and Matthew Huslig and Brody Feist each won two individual events at Tuesday's Hutchinson Swimming Invitational at the YMCA. Great Bend captured the team championship (354) ahead of runner-up Buhler High (337).
Two-time Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year Huslig swept first place in the 100 butterfly (1:02.19) and 200 freestyle (1:58.71). Huslig has posted state-qualifying times in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle. Feist swept the 100 freestyle (54.74) and 200 IM (2:29.52).
Other Panther first-place winners were Tyler Stein, 50 freestyle (25.71); Ellis Long, 100 breaststroke (1:11.64) and Will Linenberger, 500 freestyle (6:32.98).
Earning runner-up finishes were Panthers Tyler Stein, 100 freestyle (56.47); and Kasey Kennedy, 100 butterfly (1:07.21).
The Panthers cut four seconds off their best time in the 200 freestyle relay (1:39.08) with Brody Feist, Tyler Stein, Ellis Long, and Matthew Huslig competing. The winning 400 freestyle relay cut two seconds (3:47.75) with Brody Feist, Kasey Kennedy, Tyler Stein and Matthew Huslig competing. The runner-up 200 medley relay (2:05.02) competed with Jonathan Ruiz, Ellis Long, Kasey Kennedy and Will Linenberger.
