Great Bend's Kaylin Wahlmeier started red-hot and finished strong to spark the Panthers past Liberal 11-0 in Wednesday's Western Athletic Conference dual match. Wahlmeier earned medalist honors (620) with a high game of 249 followed by scores of 189 and 182. She recorded six consecutive strikes and three spares in her 249 game.

"This is a good day. I kept the ball in the 'pocket,' and made my spares, which are always key," she said. "I had a nice 'split' pick-up in the second game, which helped. That made a huge difference."

The Panthers cruised past Liberal 773-594, 724-617 and 787-554.

Wahlmeier was on fire during the three-game Baker series, earning seven strikes and one spare rolling the fifth and 10th frames. The Panthers swept the team-oriented Baker games 186-145, 158-129 and 161-140.

"I was 'off' in my third game, but figured things out when we started Bakers," she said. "I enjoy it when I'm bowling consistently. I'm glad I've been able to do that this year. I'm happy with our team. We're working really hard."

Panther Emilee Nelson placed runner-up (586) with games of 197, 196 and 193. Sahara Rhiza placed third (549) with games of 170, 176 and 203. Jenna Dean finished fifth at 516 with games of 157, 158 and 201.

Liberal's medalist Josh King shot 613 to lead the Redskins past the Panthers 7-4. Liberal won the crucial series 769-670 and 830-800. The Panthers rallied for one game 837-727 and won two of three Baker games. The Redskins won the tiebreakers to gain an additional two points.

Panther Jordan Manning earned the runner-up medal at 586 (167-253-166) and Caleb Murphy placed third at 584 (181-152-251). Also contributing with 200-plus games were Deklyn Craven (233) and Caleb McNett (202).

The Panthers compete at the Wichita Carroll Tournament Friday and Saturday.
