ASHLAND 46, PAWNEE HEIGHTS 33 — Ashland's zone defense slowed Pawnee Heights after halftime for a 46-33 Southern Plains Iroquois basketball victory.

Owen Giffin scored 14 points and Cody Holste added 12 points, but the Tigers were outscored 30-13 after halftime.

Ashland (2-7) was paced by Ryan Stebens and Ethan Bates with 15 points apiece.

ASHLAND GIRLS 68, PAWNEE HEIGHTS 35 — Pawnee Heights Tiger Haylee Lynn Archuletta delivered the play of the year with an assist from halfcourt to teammate Abby Hands for a basket to end the first half against Ashland.

Ashland's girls rolled past Pawnee Heights 68-35 in Tuesday's Southern Plains Iroquois basketball showdown.

Hands played brilliantly with 21 points and double-digit rebounds. Hands scored 10 first-quarter points for a shocking 14-8 lead. Ashland outscored the Tigers 60-21 in the final 251/2 minutes.

The Bluejays outscored the Tigers 46-12 in the second and third periods for a 61-27 lead.
