PAWNEE HEIGHTS 50, RANSOM WESTERN PLAINS 42 — First-year Pawnee Heights boys basketball coach John Giffin earned a celebration with his first high school coaching victory when the Tigers outlasted Western Plains 54-42 Tuesday night.
"That's my first high school varsity basketball win ever," said Giffin, who has coached at various levels, but never as a high school varsity head coach.
Cody Holste scored a career high 26 points with four 3-pointers. Logan Enabnit added 15 points and a pair of 3-pointers.
WESTERN PLAINS GIRLS 41, PAWNEE HEIGHTS 32 — The Ransom Western Plains girls erased an 11-2 lead by outscoring the Tigers 39-21 after a slow start for a 41-32 non-league basketball victory.
Pawnee Heights Tiger Abby Hands scored 17 points and delivered double-digit rebounds. Addy Pelton added seven points.
Western Plains' Madelyn Kraus scored 14 points and Tylie Roth added nine points.
