LARNED — Pratt edged past Larned’s Legion baseball team (2-4) in a doubleheader sweep Wednesday.
PRATT 3, LARNED 2 (G1) — Jayden Mies scored on a seventh-inning error after Justus Tatro singled for the game-winning run to snap a 2-2 tie. Pratt escaped Larned's threat after Corbin Nance doubled, but was called out for the game's final out on a tag-up on Carson Shaver's fly ball.
Larned's Ian Orth and reliever Owen Reece combined to strike out eight batters in a solid effort. Pratt pitcher Mies struck out 11 batters in a 117-pitch outing.
Pratt led 1-0 when Grant Younie scored on a first-inning wild pitch. Larned's Carson Shaver scored on a fifth-inning passed ball. Pratt's Chaz Teafatiller singled home Evert in the sixth inning. Larned's Carlos Ibarra doubled home Brady Hope for 2-2 tie after six innings.
PRATT 12, LARNED 10 (G2) — Pratt scored 12 runs in two innings and held off Larned 12-10. Grant Younie drove in two runs and six Pratt hitters each drove home a run. Larned walked nine batters and committed three errors, leading to five unearned runs.
Larned's Brady Hope drove home two runs with a double and Logan Erway and Cade Colglazier each drove home a run. Orth, Hope and Ibarra scored on passed balls. Shaver and Mason Miller scored on Pratt errors. Ibarra scored on a double play groundout.
