LITTLE RIVER— Alex Barton returned the opening kick for 66 yards and paved the way for the No. 2 Oilers in a 62-16 victory over Little River.

Central Plains pounced  with a 48-8 lead at intermission. Clark Besthorn, Jacob Warnken and Braedan Crites all had running touchdowns in the first half. Michael Ryan connected twice to Crites for scoring strikes late in the second quarter. Besthorn put up the first touchdown for CPHS in the third quarter on a dive. Little River would then score for the final time of the night in the third before Crites scored on a quarterback keeper in the fourth.

Warnken and Trey Schulte shared team high honors with eight tackles each in the victory. Warnken also sported a blocked punt.

Central Plains improves to 5-1 on the season and will host Ellinwood on October 16.

Hoisington-41, Smoky Valley-6

LINDSBORG— Hoisington put up 35 unanswered points in the first half en route to a 41-6 stomping of host Smoky Valley Friday evening. Details of Friday’s win were not available at press time.

Otis-Bison-52, St. John’s-Tipton-0

BELOIT— The Cougars hammered out a pounding 36-0 drive in the first period on their way to a 52-0 shutout of St. John’s Tipton.

Brad Lightfoot opened the scoring fest for OBHS with a 39 yard run just 1:54 into the contest. Nick Higgason, Brandon Keller, Kade Urban and Daniel Scott also scored for Otis-Bison who now sits at a perfect 6-0 record.

Ashland-54, Stafford-6

STAFFORD— The Trojans only score came in the second quarter as Logan Shocklee converted a 14-yard run.

Ashland led 32-6 at intermission and used a 22-0 run in the second to claim the victory.

Shocklee posted 13 carries for 134 yards in the effort.

Nathaniel Kerschenske and Caleb Hildebrand led the defense with seven tackles each.

South Central-48, St. John-0

ST. JOHN— South Central tallied 255 yards while holding the Tigers to just 27 as the Timberwolves coasted to a 48-0 shutout over St. John Friday.

South Central unloaded a 36-0 assault over the first quarter and ended the game at half with a 12-0 run.

Ellinwood-64, Goessel-38

ELLINWOOD— The Eagles improved to 4-2 on the season Friday with a 64-38 home victory over the Goessel Bluebirds. Details from Friday’s victory were not available at press time.
