Central Plains-66, Kinsley-0

KINSLEY— Jacob Warnken scored the first three touchdowns for Central Plains as the Oilers picked up their first win in a 66-0 mauling of Kinsley. Bryce Miller scored on an 11 yard sweep with 3:54 remaining in the opening quarter before Braedan Crites connected with Michael Ryan on a 27 yard scoring strike with just under a minute remaining in the first period. The Oilers converted their point after try and ended the quarter with a 36-0 lead.

Devin Ryan intercepted a pass and returned it 61 yards for the score to begin the second quarter. Less than a minute later, Trey Schulte recovered a fumble and returned it eight yards for a touchdown. Dalton Beck and Jacob McAtee would then score on the run as the game ended at half for the 66-0 CPHS victory.

At 1-1 on the season, Central Plains will host Macksville in the Oilers home opener next Friday.

Stafford-28, Burrton-12

BURRTON— The Trojans rallied from a 12-6 halftime deficit with a 22-0 drive to defeat Burrton, 28-12.

Stafford dominated with a 16-1 first down margin. Josh Harter rushed for 137 yards off of 25 carries and two touchdowns while quarterback Logan Shocklee posted two touchdowns with 11 carries and 137 yards.

Caleb Hildebrand led the Trojan defense with 11 tackles.

Victoria-38, Ellinwood-12

ELLINWOOD— The Knights improved to 2-0 with a 38-12 victory over host Ellinwood.

The win for Victoria was a bittersweet victory of sorts following last week’s season ending injury to VHS all state quarterback and safety Brady Dinkel. Dinkel suffered a lacerated liver during the Knight’s season opening victory over Central Plains.

For Ellinwood Tyson Martinez completed 13 of 26 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown strike to Jordan Duvall. Martinez suffered two interceptions in the effort. Duvall led the running game with 17 carries for 55 yards. Martinez registered an 11-yard touchdown run against the Knights.

Duvall and Kaleb Schartz paced the defense with 11 tackles each.

Otis-Bison-54, St. John-12

OTIS— Brad Lightfoot scored five touchdowns, all on the run as Otis-Bison defeated visiting St. John, 54-12.

St. John ran low on players which necessitated Friday’s game being called in the third quarter.

The Tigers’ Eddy Ibarra connected to Keven Neri-Leon on a 24-yard touchdown strike with 9:29 left in the opening quarter. The extra point try failed with OBHS leading 24-6. Ibarra then scored late in the second quarter on a three-yard trot. The PAT missed as the Cougars went on an unanswered drive for the 54-12 win.

The Cougars improve to 2-0 while St. John falls to 0-2.
