On a roll and looking for more the Hoisington Cardinals will have plenty of steam heading into Friday's bout against 3-1 Kingman. At 4-0 the Cards are fresh off a 76-6 routing of visiting Hillsboro (0-4) last week and will close out the two game home stand against the Eagles (3-1) who fell in a 23-19 disappointment last week to visiting Pratt (3-1), a team the Cardinals defeated 34-14 two weeks ago.
Quarterback Tyler Specht threw a perfect seven for seven for 163 and four touchdown strikes against Hillsboro. Steffan Dolechek collected three receptions for 81 yards and two scores. Dolechek also nailed down two interceptions while Rudy Gearhart, Hanzlick and Braxton Donovan recorded a pick each in the victory.
The Cardinals coasted to a 62-0 lead at the half. Hillsboro scored their only six points of the evening in the third quarter on a five-yard toss and trailed Hoisington 68-6. The Cardinals would nail down the hatch with a 12-point attack in the closing quarter for the 76-6 win.
Other area action:
Lyons (0-4) @ Larned (1-3)
Two of the Indians’ three losses have been by two points or less. Larned dropped to 1-3 last week in a 26-25 edging by Nickerson on the road. The Indians were up 25-14 before the Panthers scored two touchdowns late in the contest.
Larned will turn their focus this week to Lyons as the Indians celebrate homecoming. Lyons is looking for their first season win following last week’s 21-3 loss at Hesston.

No. 2 Central Plains (3-1) @ Canton-Galva (1-3)
Second ranked Central Plains is on a scoring rampage outperforming their last three opponents by a 202-0 margin. The latest victim of the Oiler attack was St. John who dropped a 62-0 road contest at Claflin last Friday.
After a 40-0 lead at the end of the first period CPHS went on a 20-0 run in the second quarter and glided to the eventual 62-0 shutout of the Tigers.
The Eagles of Canton Galva are coming off a 12-point loss to visiting Wichita Life Prep in a 46-34 decision. Canton-Galva’s only victory came two weeks ago in a 56-35 win at Burrton.

Ellinwood (3-1) @ Solomon (4-0)
The Eagles are currently on a two-game win streak following back-to-back shutouts of Kinsley and Macksville by identical scores of 46-0. Jordan Duvall led the Ellinwood offense and defense posting 12 carries for 192 yards and three touchdowns in the win over the Mustangs. Duvall also recorded a team best 10 tackles.
Ellinwood will have their hands full Friday as the Eagles tangle with 4-0 Solomon. The Gorillas are coming off a 52-0 blowout road victory last Friday against Peabody-Burns.

Pratt-Skyline (0-4) @ Macksville (0-4)
One of these two teams will end a losing streak Friday. Macksville is looking to snap an 18-game skid dating back to 2013. Macksville defeated St. John that season by a score of 58-36. The Mustangs were on the receiving end of a 46-0 thrashing by Ellinwood last week.
Skyline’s last victory came in the final game of 2014 with a 62-14 win at St. John. The Thunderbirds were shutout by Argonia-Attica (4-0), 56-0 last week following a 50-0 loss to Pretty Prairie on September 18.

Otis-Bison (4-0) at Thunder Ridge (1-3)
Following a 56-0 win against winless and scoreless Kinsley, the Cougars will look to pick up their fifth season victory this week at Thunder Ridge. The Cougars put up a 26-0 lead through the first quarter in the win against Kinsley.
Quarterback Kade Urban completed all three of his passes for 65 yards and two touchdowns.
The Longhorns are coming off a 54-8 setback to visiting Wakeeney-Trego last week.

Ashland (3-1) @ Stafford (2-2)
The Trojans will look to regroup following last Friday’s 26-20 road loss to South Barber (3-1). Both teams put up an eight point attack to tie the game at 20 heading to the fourth period.
The Cheftains were able to use a 6-0 run in the final quarter to put away Stafford for the 26-20 South Barber victory.
Josh Harter led the running game for the Trojans with 13 carries for 128 yards and a touchdown.
Ashland is on a three-game winning streak following a 56-42 victory at Ingalls on September 25.

Kinsley (0-4) @ St. John (0-4)
Like the Macksville vs. Skyline matchup either the Coyotes or the Tigers will walk away with their first win of the season Friday. The odds favor St. John although the Tigers have only scored 18 points on the season. The Coyotes are scoreless on the year after a 56-0 blanking by Otis-Bison last week.
St. John took one on the chin against host Central Plains in last week’s 62-0 loss.
