Area teams qualify for state cross-country meets

TRIBUNE — Macksville High School won a pair of Class 1A regional cross-country meet titles on Saturday at Prairie Ridge Golf Course.
The Lady Mustangs finished with 22 points, topping second-place Tribune-Greeley County (30).
The Mustangs finished with 26 points. Ingalls finished second with 30 points.
Stafford’s boys’ team also qualified for the state meet, finishing in third place with 34 points.
The Macksville girls were paced by Lisa Penner, who finished second at 16 minutes, 56 seconds.
Anna Penner also finished in the top 10 for a medal, taking fourth (17:32).
Emma Stimatze won a medal, placing seventh (17:45).
Macksville’s Henry Penner won an individual title, crossing the finish line at 17:10.
Stafford’s Derek McClure was the runner-up in the boys’ race at 17:42.
Stafford’s Allison Lowther qualified as an individual with a time of 19:37.
The 1A state meet will be held at Wamego Country Club.
The girls race at 10 a.m. The boys race at 11:30.

• Gordon qualifies for 4A state meet
Larned’s Delainee Gordon was the lone 4A state qualifier for the Lady Indians.
She finished with a time of 16:26 at the regional meet in McPherson, finishing in fifth place for a medal.
The 4A meet will be held at Wamego. The 4A girls race at noon.
