Cardinals capture first at own classic

HOISINGTON — The Hoisington High School Cardinals wrestling team, following their fourth-place finish at the Bob Kuhn Classic in Hays, took first place at the Cardinal Classic Wrestling Tournament on Friday.The Cardinals, who are ranked No. 5 in Class 3-1A in the latest Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association poll, finished with 230 points, beating seven teams, including second-place Thomas More Prep-Marian with 131 and third-place Cimarron with 118.“It was Senior Night for our team,” Hoisington head coach Daniel Schmidt said. “It was the last time for our seniors to wrestle at home.
