Cardinals win own classic

HOISINGTON — With an 87.5-point advantage over second-place Cimarron High School, the Hoisington Cardinals wrestling team won the Cardinal Classic on Friday.
Of the 13 wrestlers for the Cardinals, six got first place, five finished second, one took third and one captured fourth.
Cody Lang (106-pound weight class), Brandon Ball (126), Chance Demel (145), Hagen Hanzlick (182), Avery Urban (195) and Cayton Janousek (220) were the first-place finishers for Hoisington.
The Cardinals, who are ranked No. 5 in Class 3-1A in the latest Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association poll, compete on Saturday at the Phillipsburg Invitational, starting at 9 a.m.
