LARNED — Great Bend’s Eduardo Bujanda drove in four runs in both games to spark the American Legion Chiefs past Larned 18-3 for a sweep of their baseball doubleheader. The Chiefs won Thursday’s Legion opener 14-6.

CHIEFS 14, LARNED 6 – Eduardo Bujanda drove in four runs as the American Legion Chiefs defeated Larned 14-6 Friday for their first victory. Eduardo Bujanda singled home Konner Ireland and Brayden Smith in a four-run first inning. Cory Burnham’s single drove home Eduardo Bujanda and Jesus Bujanda scored on a wild pitcher.
Larned scored four first-inning runs for a 4-4 tie. Johnathan Herter scored on a wild pitch after he singled home Mason Perez. Braydon Lemuz forced home Austin Gladow on a walk. Shevin Martin’s single scored Mason Burris.
Great Bend’s Brice Kaiser scored on a fourth-inning passed ball. Eduardo Bujanda’s single scored Ireland and Brayden Smith scored on a passed ball for a 7-4 lead. Smith’s double scored Keaton Reneau and Jesus Bujanda singled home Ireland for a 9-4 lead.
Larned’s Herter scored on a groundout by Mason Burris after he singled home Carson Smith to slice the lead to 9-6.
Great Bend scored five runs in the seventh inning. Brice Kaiser singled home Burnham. Jared Maneth doubled home Kaiser. Maneth scored on Ireland’s sacrifice fly. Jesus Bujanda singled home Eduardo Bujanda and Brayden Smith.

CHIEFS 18, LARNED 3 – Larned led 3-0 off starter Keaton Reneau. Jonathan Herter singled home Mason Perez. Carson Smith scored on a grounder by Alex Barger. Hunter Fitzpatrick singled home Barger.
Payton Mauler scored on an error and Brice Kaiser scored on a passed ball, the first of 11 unearned runs.
Eduardo Bujanda scored on an error and Cory Burnham singled home Logan Perry for a 4-3 lead. Mauler and Burnham scored on an error. Kaiser scored on a passed ball. Ireland scored on a passed ball after his single drove home Eduardo Bujanda. Jesus Bujanda’s sacrifice fly scored Brayden Smith for a 10-3 lead.
Eduardo Bujanda sparked an 8-run fourth inning with a two-run single that scored Mauler and Burnham. Ireland’s triple scored Kaiser and Eduardo Bujanda. Smith’s double scored Ireland. Smith scored on Logan Perry’s groundball. Jared Mathe and Jesus Bujanda scored the Chiefs’ final runs.
