Mustangs win Class 1A regional championship

MONTEZUMA — Macksville High School’s boys’ track and field team won a Class 1A regional championship.
The Mustangs qualified in five boys in eight different events, and the Lady Mustangs qualified three girls in four events.
Senior Adam Oak won regional championships in the 110-meter hurdles (15.36) and the 300 hurdles (41.82). He also qualified for the state meet in the 100 and 200 dashes.
Seth Filbert finished first in the 1,600 run (4:52.38), while also qualifying in the 800.
Henry Penner won a regional title in the 3,200 (10:46.12). He will also be competing in the 1,600 at the state meet.
Isaac Seibert qualified in the pole vault and the 110 hurdles, and Tanner Tranbarger qualified in the 110 and 300 hurdles.
Lisa Penner won a regional championship in the 1,600 (5:50.28), while also qualifying in the 800.
Anna Penner qualified in the 3,200, and Kenzie Pavlu advanced in the discus.
The state meet will begin on Friday, May 25, at Cessna Stadium on the Wichita State University campus.

Otis-Bison qualifies four athletes for state meet
HAYS — Otis-Bison will be sending four athletes to compete in the Class 1A portion of the state meet in Wichita.
Janel Tammen, a senior, qualified in the javelin (113-4), discus (122-5) and shot put (37-6).
Annie Kraisinger captured third in the 100-meter dash (12.87) and fourth in the 200 (27.19).
Hannah Bannister finished fourth in the 400 (1:03.73).
Matt Crotinger, the lone boy to qualify for the Cougars, finished third in the 100 (11.29).

Stafford captures three
regional championships
MONTEZUMA — The Stafford High School track and field team qualified for the Class 1A state track and field meet in seven individual events, as well as two relays on Friday.
The Trojans had three regional championships — Austin Ceniti in the 800-meter run (2:06.32), Ethan Johnson in the high jump (5-10) and a boys 4x800 relay team (8:56.48).
Dustin McClure qualified in the 1,600 run, and Dustin McClure qualified in the 3,200 for the boys.
Kandyce Lumpkins qualified in the 400 dash, Kristen Lumpkins advanced in the 800 and Samantha Sosa qualified in the pole vault for the girls.
The Lady Trojans’ 4x400 relay team also qualified with a third-place finish.

Wade leads St. John
at regional meet
MONTEZUMA — St. John High School’s Teresa Wade won a Class 1A regional championship in the shot put on Friday.
Wade threw 36 feet, 3 3/4 inches in the shot put, and also qualified in the javelin.
Haley Falk qualified in the high jump and long jump.
St. John girls’ 4x100 and 4x800 relay teams qualified for state as well.

Pawnee Heights’ Hardiman to compete at state
MONTEZUMA — Pawnee Heights High School’s Jacob Hardiman was the lone Class 1A state qualifier for his school.
He finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.85.
