Class 5A regional tennis meet to resume Monday

SALINA — While the Class 5A girls’ tennis regional hosted by Salina Central finally got under way on Saturday, it didn’t last long.
After a four-hour rain delay, the meet began, but continuing inclement weather forced the meet to be postponed until Monday morning, starting at 10.
Singles player Morgan Francis defeated a Newton player, 6-0, 6-2, and leads Hays in a quarterfinal match, 6-0, 2-3.
Stephanie Langer bested Valley Center, 6-2, 6-3, and trails Salina South in the quarterfinals by a set.
Brianna Schartz and Jami McVay eased past Newton, 6-0, 6-1, but has lost the first set to Salina Central, 6-4. The doubles team leads 5-3 in the second set.
Becca Brining and Kinzie Sinclair fell to Valley Center in the first round, 6-0, 6-0.
