Ellinwood tennis ties for first

ELLIWOOD — Ellinwood High’s No. 2 singles Caleb Robl (3-0) placed first and the Eagles earned three runner-up finishes to tie Salina Sacred Heart with 13 points at Thursday’s Ellinwood Tennis Tournament. Robl beat players from Sacred Heart, Hutchinson Trinity and Fairfield.
Ellinwood’s No. 1 singles Keaton Robl (2-1), No. 1 doubles Brook Degenhardt-Caleb Bookout (2-1) and No. 2 doubles Landon Robl-Nathan Ringwald (2-1) all placed runner-up.
Degenhardt and Bookout beat the first-place finishers Trace Leners and Charlie Skidmore from Sacred Heart 8-4, but lost a three-way tiebreaker (20-13) to (21-15) on games won and lost.
