Fall sports practices began Monday throughout the state, in accordance with Kansas State High School Activities Association regulations.
The Great Bend Panthers, who finished with a 4-4 football record last season, are undergoing two-a-day practices through Thursday.
“We got a lot of stuff done this summer and we feel like  we’re just jumping in where we left off on July 15 (during the team camp),” GBHS head coach Bo Black said. “The kids are ready to go. They had a great summer in the weight room over the summer and worked extremely hard.
“We feel like we’re progressing to right where we need to be and at the same time, you look up and we’re 2 1/2 weeks away from the first football game and that makes you very nervous.
After a trio of two-a-days, the Panthers will be dressing out in full pads for the first time on Thursday morning, where they will go from 6:30 until 7:15.
“We’ll get after it that morning and then we’ll come in and do our regular routine after school on Thursday,” Black said.
