Out of the five first-place finishes for the Great Bend High School track and field teams on Tuesday evening at the Great Bend Invitational, none were so closely watched as the girls’ pole vault. Not only was it the final event to finish up at Memorial Stadium, but Lady Panthers senior Selam Ball broke the GBHS record of 10-6.Ball reached 11-0 to win the event.“It feels great,” Ball said. “I’m happy to break it. I thought I could push it a couple inches at a time after I hit 10-6, but my coaches were really confident and told me to raise it up to 11-0 and I did.“I was happy with it.
