Meitners three TDs boost Panthers JV over Garden City

The Great Bend High School junior varsity football team started slow against Garden City.
But thanks to a strong push from their offensive line, resulting in running back Braden Meitner’s three touchdowns, the Panthers finished strong for a 42-12 rout on Monday evening at Memorial Stadium.
Garden City owned the first quarter, scoring on a pair of TD passes from quarterback Dylan Darter. He completed a 50-yard rainbow to Nalen Rincones and a 24-yard dart to Edgar Aguilar.
The Panthers took over in the second quarter. Trey Ibarra had a two-yard dive into the end zone
Great Bend (1-2) recovered a pair of fumbles, resulting in a 17-yard scoring run from Meitner, along with a 3-yard TD from running back Thomas Bobbitt, for a 22-12 Panthers advantage at halftime.
Meitner punched in a 5-yard TD run to open the third quarter, and broke open a 27-yard sprint for a score in the fourth.
Ramses Lopez also rushed for a 27-yard touchdown.

Great Bend 0
Great Bend freshman team fell to 0-3 on the season.
Garden City’s Ezequiel Herrera kicked an early field goal, but both defenses held strong for the rest of the first half, leaving the Buffaloes ahead 3-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Garden City running back Ruben Rodriguez scored on 50- and 8-yard touchdown runs.
Christian Coreas scored on a 9-yard TD run for the Buffaloes.
