WICHITA — Great Bend High School had some all-star performances on Friday at the Shocker Pre-State Challenge at Cessna Stadium on the Wichita State University campus.
That was especially in the field events of the Elite Division, where senior Jacy Quade’s personal-best heave of 133 feet, 10 inches gave her first place in the girls’ discus. Quade was also a sixth-place finisher in the shot put (38-0).
In the boys’ discus, freshman Jayce Brack won first place with a personal-best throw of 147-11, while Matt Moyd won the long-jump competition, sailing 20 feet, 9¾.
Moyd, a senior, also captured second place in the 100-meter dash (11.06), and took home fourth place in the 110 high hurdles (15.29).
In the Class 4-6A Division, Anthony Valenzuela, Cristian Garcia, Kole Stiner and Chon Chavez teamed up for second place in the 4x800 relay (8:32.04), and Garcia, Ethan Henderson, Darion Yager and Maurico Uribe captured fifth in the 4x400 relay.
Hannah Wondra placed fourth in a personal-record 400 dash time of 1:01.97 and tied for sixth in the 800 (2:32.36), also a PR.
