EMPORIA — The Great Bend High School cross country team competed at a meet in Emporia on Saturday.
The boys team took eighth place with 225 points while the girls finished in ninth place with 220.
This was the first meet for the cross country team after its home meet was canceled due to extreme heat.
The Great Bend boys were led by Chon Chavez, who raced to a time of 17 minutes, 18 seconds to finish in 14th place.
Mariah Stein led the girls with a time of 16:53 to earn 21st place.
GBHS is back in action on Thursday afternoon in Hays. The meet begins at 3:45.
