After one of the most successful seasons in the Great Bend High School boys’ tennis team’s history, every player on the team was an All-Western Athletic Conference first-team selection.
Led by the No. 1 doubles team of Nick Moyers and Chase Buntain, the Panthers finished the season with seven first-place team finishes, three tournament sweeps and a WAC crown.
The only tournament that Great Bend did not win during the regular season was at McPherson, the first tournament of the year.
Moyers and Buntain, both juniors, finished 10th at the Class 5A state tournament in Arkansas City. The combination concluded the year with a 35-7 record.
Freshman Grant Harris was the WAC Player of the Year with a record of 29-5.
Junior singles player Austin Jacobs finished with a 26-6 mark.
Junior Adam Neeland and senior Ramon Garcia, who combined as the Panthers No. 2 doubles duo, finished with a record of 27-4 this season.
Great Bend head coach Shannon Schartz was selected as the WAC Coach of the Year.
The Panthers join two athletes from Hays, Hunter Wilkens and Blake McClung, and two from Garden City, Evan Riggs and Brian Clarke on the team.
