TOPEKA — Great Bend High’s girls swimming team has qualified in three individual events and three relays at the Class 5-1A state swimming meet today and Saturday at Topeka’s Hummer Sports Park.
The Great Bend girls won the Western Athletic Conference meet with 391 points last week.
Individual qualfifiers are Camryn Dunekack (50 free, 100 free); Katy Jerke (50 free, 100 free); and Kira Cook (200 free).
The Panthers broke two school records in the WAC meet. In the 200-yard medley relay, Camryn Dunekack, Kira Cook, Calista Long, Katy Jerke (2:00.92) broke the previous 2005 record (2.02.94). The 200-yard freestyle relay of Dunekack, Cook, Carly Boyd and Jerke (1.47.74) broke the 2004 school record (1.48.15).
