LYONS — Scheduling two extra dates called for early junior-varsity action for the Great Bend High School girls’ tennis team.
The Lady Panthers’ varsity players — namely singles players Morgan Francis and Macy Moyers, along with Jami McVay and Brianna Schartz at doubles — will play their first matches on Thursday at the McPherson tournament.
So GBHS head coach Shannon Schartz used the opportunity to play some of his other prospects this past Thursday at the Lyons varsity quadrangular. Meanwhile, his assistant, Barbi Harris, took another GBHS group to a JV meet in Dodge City the same day.
Great Bend finished in a three-way tie for second place at Lyons, securing runner-up in a tiebreaker. At Dodge, GBHS placed third out of 10 teams.
