The Great Bend Middle School 8th-grade boys’ basketball team squeezed out a 37-26 victory over Dodge City Middle School at GBMS. The A team converted several shots after struggling with its shooting percentage in the first two games.
“I was pleased with our offense production and happy with the balanced scoring,” said coach Kuhlman. “Our rebounding was less than stellar. Our defense was good at times and nonexistent at other. We need to work on being stronger with the ball and not turn it over. The boys’ attitudes were great and they played extremely hard.”
Paco Hernandez led the Panthers with 15 points. Sage Koelsch, Joseph Moeder, and Gavin Haberman added six points each.
The Great Bend B team started slowly and trailed at halftime. The shots failed to fall in the second half as the Panthers lost 21-20.
Brody Feist scored 11 points. Evan Wedel and Tyler Stein led the rebounding.
