Great Bend bowling team sets school records in Dodge City

DODGE CITY — After hosting Dodge City High School earlier in the week, the Great Bend bowling team made the trip to the Demons’ home turf on Thursday night.
The Panthers took second, setting a new Great Bend boys’ team series record by rolling a 2,592, just 77 points short of Dodge City.
The Great Bend boys are 5-2 overall and 1-2 in the Western Athletic Conference.
Great Bend was led by Eric Ruiz, who broke a Great Bend record for a series by throwing games of 230, 248 and 258 to hit 735 points.
The Lady Panthers had more luck, scoring 2,261 points and narrowly escaping the Lady Demons, who threw a 2,257, to remain undefeated for the season.
The girls were led by Jacy Quade, who snapped a Great Bend record for highest series that was set by Miranda Hejny earlier in the week. Quade knocked down 635.
The Lady Panthers are 7-0 overall and 3-0 in WAC play.
