CUNNINGHAM — Great Bend Brave Layton Holden tripled and homered while driving in six runs in a 15-2 baseball victory over Cunningham. The Braves swept the doubleheader with a 12-2 victory in the second game, Cunningham’s baseball team features players from Cunningham, Pratt, Turon and Plevna.
BRAVES 15, CUNNINGHAM 2 — Caden Bieker struck out five batters in a five-inning performance.
Holden’s first-inning homer scored Christian Zahnter for a 2-0 lead. Kyler Feist’s second-inning single scored Caden Bieker. Jayce Kohls homered and Zahnter scored on a wild pitch for a 5-0 lead.
Cunningham’s Nathan Lohrke singled home Camre Hamount and Keegan Haumont in the third inning. Will Linenberger delivered a two-run single and Jake Kennedy added an RBI single in a six-run fourth inning. Two runs scored on bases-loaded walks and another on a wild pitch.
Holden’s bases-loaded triple scored Bieker, Brody Feist and Kennedy in a four-run fifth inning.
BRAVES 12, CUNNINGHAM 2 — Brody Feist struck out six batters in a one-hit pitching performance. Holden, Kohls and Brody Feist each drove home two runs.
Kohls singled home Kennedy in the first inning. Kohls tripled home Holden and Holden singled home Zahnter in a five-run second inning.
Cunningham’s Justus Tatro scored on a second-inning error for a 6-1 score. Brody Feist singled home Kyler Feist and Linenberger and Trevor DeLong and Kennedy and Holden added RBI hits in a five-run third inning,
Cunningham’s Brady Fowler singled home Keegan Haumont in the third inning. Dalton Staab scored the Braves’ final run. Cunningham achieved a highlight play when shortstop David Holmes turned a double play.
