HAYS — The Great Bend High School girls’ cross country team took second place at the Hays meet on Thursday.
The Panthers took sixth place in the boys division.
The GBHS girls were led by Kaitlynn Tuey, who turned in a time of 16 minutes, nine seconds to claim 10th place.
Mariah Stein was right behind her at 11th place with a time of 16:13.
Chon Chavez placed highest among Great Bend runners, finishing in seventh place with a time of 16:56.
Great Bend is back on a course on Saturday, Sept. 24, when it travels to Rim Rock Farm, outside of Lawrence.
