The Great Bend Braves 17-and-under American Legion baseball team rallied from deficits to sweep the Hays Eagles 11-9 and 10-8 in a pair of comeback victories Wednesday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
The Braves (6-2) play Cunningham at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
BRAVES 11, EAGLES 9 — Calan Haberman, Eduardo Bujanda and Colin Hall each drove in two runs after the Braves rallied after losing a 7-0 lead.
Jesus Bujanda, Hall and Jayce Christiansen delivered RBIs in a three-run first inning. Townshend Kurth’s single drove home Haberman and Jesus Bujanda and Eduardo Bujanda hit back-to-back doubles that scored Kurth and Jesus Bujanda. Hall’s single scored Eduardo Bujanda for a 7-0 lead after two innings.
Joey Soupiset’s single drove home Nahum Olivas for an 8-8 tie in the fifth inning. Haberman’s single off pitcher Chase Brous drove home Soupiset and Cal Kaiser for a 10-8 lead. Haberman scored on an error.
BRAVES 10, EAGLES 8 — The Braves rallied for three sixth-inning runs for a 10-8 victory. Jesus Bujanda’s double scored Haberman off pitcher Levi Hickert. Jesus Bujanda scored on an error. Hall’s single scored Eduardo Bujanda for a 10-8 lead.
Kurth’s double, Jesus Bujanda’s triple and Eduardo Bujanda single sparked a three-run third inning. Hall scored on a fourth-inning passed ball for a 4-2 lead.
Haberman and Kurth scored on passed balls and Jesus Bujanda scored when Soupiset was hit by a pitch for a 7-2 lead after five innings.
The Eagles scored six runs and Hickert scored the go-ahead run for an 8-7 lead on a wild pitch after four walks and four singles in the sixth inning.
