Great Bend runner Depenbusch wins two WAC events

Two-time WAC champion Kerby Depenbusch

DODGE CITY — Great Bend distance runner Kerby Depenbusch swept the 1,600 meters (4:38.68) and 3,200 (10:17.05) to win the Western Athletic Conference track titles Thursday.
Great Bend won the 3,200-meter relay (8:28.24) with Eric Vazquez, Connor Griffith, Jesus Sanchez and Mason YellowWolf competing.
The Panthers earned a runner-up medal in the 1,600 relay (3:34.75) with YellowWolf, Vazquez, Nick Reed and Deontre Hardiman competing. Jacob Murray threw the javelin a career best 146-9 to finish runner-up.
Liberal’s boys scored 112 points to place first. Great Bend scored 47 points and placed fourth.
