WICHITA — While Wichita Independent scored first, Great Bend was able to take advantage of the wind at its back in the second half, winning 3-1 on Thursday evening.
“It was too windy,” GBHS head coach Gus Prieto said. “It was almost impossible to play.
“They scored first, and we couldn’t score until the second half.”
Alex Urias, Jose Mijares and Enrique Guyton each had goals to lead Great Bend to a 12-4 record to end the regular season.
GBHS will host a Class 5A regional tournament game at Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night at 7.
The Panthers are the No. 3 seed behind Salina Central and Bishop Carroll. They will host the No. 14 seed.
