Hildebrand leads GBHS at state meet

TOPEKA — Each of the Great Bend High School swimmers in the Class 5-1A girls’ state meet were able to improve their times in Saturday’s finals competition at Hummer Sports Complex.As a team, the Lady Panthers finished 19th overall, with Hannah Hildebrand leading with two 10th-place finishes.“We did really good this year,” GBHS head coach Stephanie Maier said. “Last year, we didn’t really improve as well heading into the state meet, but this year was much better.“We were able to finish with our best times at the final meet, which is what we want.”Hildebrand finished 10th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.82) and the 50 freestyle (26.45).“She did a good job improving her times,” Maier said. “Both her prelims and finals times in the back were improvements, and she had a really solid time in the 50.”Allison Damm finished 15th in the 500 freestyle (6:06.08).
