RUSSELL — Hoisington High’s Christopher Ball continues to shine with double wins in the 110-meter hurdles (16.84) and 300-meter hurdles (43.13) at Thursday’s Russell Track Invitational. Ball placed eighth in the 110 hurdles (16.12) and ninth in the 300 hurdles (42.22) at 3A state last year.
Ball placed runner-up in the pole vault (13-0) after placing fourth in the 3A pole vault (13-6) last year in Wichita.
Maleigha Schmidt placed first in the pole vault (10-0) after placing fifth in 3A last year (10-0).
Hoisington Cardinals second-place finishers were Xavier Robinson, long jump (20-6); Samantha Colson in the 100 hurdles (17.76) and 300 hurdles (49.75) and Joclynn Pedigo, discus (106-0).
The Cardinals’ 400-meter relay (53.7) placed second with Schmidt, Bailey Sanders, Colson and Suzanna Schneider competing.
The Hoisington girls placed fourth (63.5) with Beloit (121) winning the girls division. The Cardinals boys placed sixth (56) with the Clay Center boys (132) winning the meet.
The Cardinals travel to the Russell JV meet April 9 and compete at Scott City April 17.
